German contemporary artist Sabrina Pohl to be the first artist as part of Jumeirah Creekside Hotel’s Artist in Residency programme, a dedicated platform to inspire and support talent while connecting guests with Dubai through unique artworks.

Programme to further strengthen Jumeirah Creekside Hotel’s credentials as vibrant art hub and home to one of the city’s largest art collections

Jumeirah Group’s arts and lifestyle city destination, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, has launched a new Artist in Residency programme that will enable talents to produce and exhibit works within the hotel. Running from 1st April to 15th June, the ongoing initiative will support international and regional artists in advancing their skills through dedicated spaces, enhanced visibility and endorsement, while providing an inspirational setting from which to create unique pieces of art and enjoy living in one of the most diverse cities in the world.

A global art destination with a flourishing creative scene, the programme encourages the resident artists to produce works that express the electric undercurrent of Dubai, while showcasing their own unique and individual style. The first artist to feature in this exciting new initiative is Sabrina Pohl, a German contemporary artist who is based across Vienna, Austria, and Stuttgart, Germany. Her work frames the concept and creation of space, and is focused primarily on shape-showing art that manifests itself in abstract paintings. She masters the representation of the elements, while weaving in influences from her time in Italy and Egypt. Previously Pohl’s creations have been sponsored by Adobe Stock, and displayed during a designer collaboration at New York Men’s Fashion Week.

Pohl will start her residency at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel on 1st April, with her exhibition set to welcome visitors from 1st June until the end of her residency on 15th June. Her art will further complement the hotel’s contemporary appeal, underscored by tastefully designed interiors featuring exposed concrete walls, culturally inspired carpet designs, and rich colour palettes across its guest rooms and public spaces.

Andy Cuthbert, General Manager at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, commented, “Breath-taking spaces are one of the key pillars of the Jumeirah brand, beautifully brought to life at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel through our stunning collection of artworks, and now the new Artist in Residency programme. Currently, guests can explore almost 500 regionally inspired artworks on display throughout the property, which make for a truly unique hospitality experience in the city. With art playing such a significant role at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, the Artist in Residency programme is a key step in bolstering our position as an art hub and creative destination. We are delighted to be welcoming Sabrina Pohl to our hotel and look forward to connect our guests to Dubai through her stunning artwork.”

Sabrina Pohl added: “I welcome new sources of inspiration that resonate with my art, as this not only enhances my experiences when creating pieces, but also the ability of my work to connect with a larger audience on more levels. My travels across Egypt and Italy still reflect in my creations, therefore I am eager to explore the heritage and identity of Dubai and shine a light on this through my work during the Artist in Residency programme at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel”.

Art has always been at heart of the hotel’s identity and is home to one of the city’s largest art collections. With the aim of connecting guests to the culture and heritage of their surroundings, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel shines a spotlight on the region’s vibrant art scene, housing 482 specially commissioned pieces by 51 artists with roots from across the Middle East. Building on its reputation as an art hub, the hotel further features some of the world’s most celebrated design houses across its grounds, including custom-made furniture by Sawaya Moroni, Walter Knoll, Poltrona Frau, BnB Italia, Frag, Se London, Matteograssi and De Sede. Most impressively, Tom Price, an internationally recognised creator renowned for his sculptural works, was commissioned to create 88 red Meltdown Bowls, which are dotted across the hotel as part of a limited-edition collection.

Guests can view Sabrina Pohl’s Dubai-inspired artwork when the inaugural residency exhibition launches on 1st June. In the meantime, check out the hotel’s wider art collection while staying connected via our social media channels. Don’t forget to tag us in your posts with #LiveTheMoment
