DUBAI, 28 December 2021 – The Jubilee Stage at Expo came alive to the sound of Filipino pop rock on Tuesday evening, courtesy of The Juans.
The youthful, all-male five-piece took turns to address the audience between songs, speaking in their native language, but occasionally shouting in English: “What’s up, Expo Dubai?”
The Juans have changed their members over the years, but currently consist of lead vocalist and keyboardist Carl Guevarra, vocalist and lead guitarist Japs Mendoza, sub-vocalist and bassist Chael Adriano, sub-vocalist and acoustic guitarist RJ Cruz, and drummer Joshua Coronel. They have released many hit songs and EPs, clocking up millions of streams on YouTube and Spotify, with a new album promised soon.
Introduced to the stage as “five ordinary boys with extraordinary dreams”, The Juans switched between slow-moving ballads and more energetic numbers, treating fans to such songs as Hindi Tayo Pwede, Hatid and Isotorya, as well as recent single Anghel.
